This Sunday, the city of Gdansk will once again welcome an elite lineup of international talent for Lotto Challenge Gdansk, with 23 professional athletes confirmed to race along Poland’s Baltic coast.

The 2025 edition continues to build its reputation as a premier middle-distance event, offering a fast course and a stunning setting that has quickly made it a favourite on the international triathlon calendar.

In the women’s pro field, one of the top contenders is Nina Derron (SUI), who recently claimed a solid third place at Challenge Taiwan Half, proving she’s ready for another strong performance. She’ll be joined by Julia Skala (GER), building momentum after her fifth-place finish at Challenge Mogán-Gran Canaria, and Julie Iemmelo (FRA), who secured second place at Challenge Cesenatico. Also racing is Rhianne Hughes (GBR), who impressed with a podium finish at Challenge Cesenatico. Rounding out the women’s field is Rosie Weston (GBR), returning to Gdansk after her runner-up finish in 2023.

The men’s race features Tomas Davis (GBR), who recently won Challenge Salou and has been climbing steadily in form. Marius Bjerkeset (NOR) brings solid experience, including a strong showing recently at The Championship, while local hopes rest on Wojciech Kopycinski (POL) and Michal Grabowski (POL), both eager to impress on home soil. Rounding out the men’s lineup is Sebastian Wernersen (NOR), a strong short-course athlete, ready to test himself against a highly competitive field.

The race begins with a swim in the Baltic Sea from the iconic Gdansk Beach. Athletes will then take on a fast, three-lap bike course that showcases local landmarks, including the Energa Stadion and a unique tunnel segment under the Vistula River. The run course hugs the shoreline, finishing at the popular Gdansk Pier in front of an energetic crowd.
