The race features a 1.2-mile (1.9KM) swim from Sandycove, home to the famous Martello Tower, in the clear waters of the Irish Sea in Dublin Bay, before taking athletes on a spectacular and challenging 56-mile (90KM) bike course. Karlovy Vary ready to host latest stop on ITU World Cup circuit

The ITU World Cup circuit moves ever onwards to the 11th stop of the 2019 season on Sunday and the Czech spa town of Karlovy Vary. For the third consecutive year, the Olympic-distance race begins with a 1.5km swim in Rolava Lake ahead of a two-part bike course, consisting of 6.5km ride into town and seven technical laps of the city, then rounded out with the hilly 4-lap, 10km run. more

The IRONMAN Kalmar Sweden was made for records on Sunday. Seven athletes finished sub-8 in a stunning event with Germany’s Boris Stein laying down a stellar 7:49:17. Stein had a solid swim (49:09) and paced himself into the mix early in the bike. The German was on fire on the bike recording a 4:03:08 bike split that is likely one of the best ever times recorded in an IRONMAN bike leg. more

Anne Haug (DEU) was forced to withdraw from the European Championship Frankfurt due to an issue with her lower leg, but wan't showing any signs of rust in Copenhagen. Haug powered her way into the lead in the second half of the bike and sailed away with a new bike course record (4:37:28). Haug hit the half-way mark of the marathon in 1:23 then put her race in cruise control and sailed to to the victory by a 17 minute winning margin. more

For much of the race it was the Lionel Sanders (CAN) and Cody Beal (CAN) show. The pair of Canucks went off the front early on the bike and rode together for the first 120 km's. Playing to his strength, Sanders hit the gas hard and carried a 5:00 advantage on Beals heading out on the run. Initially, Beals was unable to make any significant gains in reducing the gap to Sanders and it wasn't until 25 km's when Sanders' advantage took a serous hit. more

It was a day to remember in Tokyo for Tyler Mislawchuk as he took it to the all-new Olympic course on Friday morning, powering to gold at the Tokyo Olympic Qualification Event, and a huge step towards a place at Tokyo 2020 in the process. It was the Canadian alongside Casper Stornes (NOR) and Hayden Wilde (NZL) out front for the majority of the 10km run, but as Wilde faded, it became a two-man surge to the line before Mislawchuk found yet another gear down the chute to secure gold. more

Heather Wurtele (CAN) and Dede Griesbauer (USA) rode for much of the 180 kms within sight of each other. Wurtele put in a surge late in the bike that resulted in her entering T2 with close to a minute advantage on Griesbauer. That would be as close as anyone would get to the Canadian for the remainder of the day as she pulled away from the field to claim the seventh IRONMAN title of her career. more
