Bilham, Brownlee win IRONMAN Ireland

British star Alistair Brownlee perfectly executed his first-ever IRONMAN. The two-time Olympic gold medalist was hoping for a fast swim at the inaugural IRONMAN Ireland, but the air and water temperatures were too low to start the swim portion. With the swim was cancelled and local hero Bryan McCrystal nailed a great bike ride through stormy conditions. Brownlee kept cool and made the decisive pass on the late stages of of the run. more

Rodolphe von Berg made a brave move on the second half of the bike at the KMD IRONMAN 70.3 European Championship Elsinore. He knew about the running strength of Spaniard Javier Gomez and put down the hammer early to open up a decisive gap. The American came off the bike with a lead of 3:30 minutes over Gomez who laid down a 1:07:45 half marathon to take victory in 3:39:35 with a lead of 12 seconds. more

Lukasz Wojt's race dominated IRONMAN 70.3 Luxembourg from the start to the finish. After a blistering bike he left the field behind and took the win in 3:49:05 while Bas Diederen and Stenn Goetstouwers completed the podium. Braden Currie smashed the race record by 10 minutes in ideal conditions in 2018, but was even more impressive in this year's edition, which saw the strongest winds in two decades. He rode solo, building a 5-minute advantage at 90 kms and growing to 9 minutes at T2. After 20 km of the run, he was enjoying a 16-minute lead, and at the finish, his victory was 20 minutes strong. more
