It is a great pleasure to address you on the occasion of the very first edition of IRONMAN 70.3 Málaga. Málaga takes over the baton from Marbella, a city that warmly welcomed us in our journey to establish a brand event in southern Spain. Last year, we experienced and enjoyed a peak moment with the celebration of the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship and the remarkable success this event meant for everyone.
In this new chapter, we are moving to Málaga—and what better location to keep progressing than choosing the capital of the Costa del Sol as our destination? Málaga is a welcoming city whose momentum has grown spectacularly in recent years. It is a tourist destination for millions of people every year, thanks to its vast hotel infrastructure, fine weather, and a cultural, gastronomic, and entertainment offering that positions it as a favorite choice for both national and international visitors.
The location for the race could not be more enticing: the surroundings of the Port of Málaga and Paseo del Parque will bear witness to this inaugural edition. The cycling course—flat and challenging—will cross municipalities that feel like an extension of the capital itself: Rincón de la Victoria, Vélez-Málaga, Algarrobo, and Torrox will offer you a spectacular route to fly on your time-trial bike right alongside the Mediterranean Sea. Finally, the run course, also set by the sea and the port area, will lead you to the finish line at the Palmeral de Las Sorpresas—an iconic spot for an epic finish.
