IRONMAN has announced the addition of the first-ever IRONMAN® 70.3® triathlon to be held in Paraguay. The inaugural Ueno Bank IRONMAN 70.3 Encarnación is set to take place on September 28, 2025 in the city of Encarnación, Paraguay. The announcement comes on the heels of Paraguay’s first 5150™ triathlon that took place on April 13.
“We are excited to bring the IRONMAN 70.3 series to Paraguay for the first time,” said Joanna Jordan, Vice President – Managing Director of Latin America for The IRONMAN Group. “The exceptional reception of our 5150 race in Encarnación was just the beginning. This next chapter reinforces our belief that Paraguay’s support for the sport showcases the city as a hub for world-class sporting events.”
The IRONMAN 70.3 triathlon offers a compelling challenge for both seasoned athletes and ambitious newcomers. Encarnación’s dynamic riverside setting and enthusiastic community make it a fitting host for this prestigious endurance event.
Consisting of a 1.9km (1.2-mile) swim, 90km (56-mile) bike, and 21.1km (13.1-mile) run, the Ueno Bank IRONMAN 70.3 Encarnación race will feature a spectacular course highlighting the city’s Costanera and riverfront, designed to offer both scenic beauty and technical challenge. The event is expected to generate significant tourism and economic impact while inspiring national pride and regional athletic development.
Building on the momentum seen of the inaugural Ueno Bank 5150 Encarnación Paraguay triathlon, the IRONMAN 70.3 Series debut in Paraguay aims to draw athletes from across South America and beyond. The event will offer qualifying slots for the 2026 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship triathlon taking place in Nice, France.
