CHALLENGE Taiwan Pro Start List

Friday 25 April 2025

The global triathlon spotlight turns to the stunning east coast of Taiwan this weekend as Challenge Taiwan, the world’s largest triathlon, returns in 2025 with another record-breaking edition. Taking place in Taitung from April 25–27, this iconic event will welcome over 10,000 athletes from across the globe, cementing its status as the largest and most inclusive triathlon on the planet.

The event spans the full spectrum of triathlon, including long and middle distance races, junior and kid events, and relay categories, making it one of the most family-friendly triathlons worldwide – over 1,500 children participate! In addition to the thousands of age groupers, a strong field of professional athletes will compete for their share of the prize purse and the prestige of standing atop the podium at the world’s largest triathlon festival.

In the professional men’s field, defending champion, Jack Moody (NZL) returns after a successful 2024 season which delivered a string of wins and saw him take out the Challenge Family World Bonus. The Antipodean rivalry will be fierce as he has strong competition from Australia’s Caleb Noble who won in 2023 and fellow Aussie, Kurt McDonald who took fifth last year. Filipe Azevedo (POR) will bring some European competition, also with his eye on the top spot after taking second in 2024.

In the women’s race, all eyes are on Alanis Siffert (SUI) in her first race of the year after her super-strong 2024 that saw no less than four victories and five second places, including at Challenge Taiwan. Fellow Swiss countrywoman, Nina Derron will be doing everything in her power to take the top spot and already has a podium at Ironman New Zealand under her belt for 2025. Another contender is Lottie Lucas (UAE), who is fully accustomed to what can be hot race conditions – home is in Dubai and she recently took third at Challenge Sir Bani Yas.

Celebrated for its electric festival atmosphere, huge expo, breathtaking course, and unmatched community spirit, Challenge Taiwan is more than just a race—it’s a celebration of the sport. Set between the mountains and the Pacific Ocean, the course features a calm lake swim, a scenic and fast bike route through lush valleys, and a run along Taitung’s coastal trails, where huge local crowds turn out in force to cheer every athlete across the finish line.
