Jack Moody, Nicole van der Kaay Win Tauranga Half

Sunday 18 January 2026

The 37th running of the event took place on January 17, 2026, in sunny conditions at Mount Maunganui. The festival atmosphere was amplified by strong elite fields in both the main event and auxiliary races

In the men's race of the 2026 Oceanside Tauranga Half triathlon, Jack Moody secured his third consecutive victory with a time of 03:39:22. Moody delivered a stunning late charge on the run to secure his historic third win, putting him one step closer to the four-time winner legend Braden Currie's record.

In the women's race, two-time Olympian Nicole van der Kaay claimed her maiden win in 04:04:29, pulling clear on the run leg for a commanding finish. Nicole van der Kaay, a two-time Olympian who decided to "dabble in the longer stuff" after Paris 2024, came into her own on the run leg. She emerged from the swim with a lead group that included four-time winner Hannah Berry and two-time champion Rebecca Clarke, but surged clear to win by nearly three minutes.
