IRONMAN and SBR Sports have announced that the city of Barranquilla, Colombia will be the newest host location of an IRONMAN® 70.3®triathlon. The inaugural edition of the IRONMAN 70.3 Barranquilla triathlon will take place on June 7, 2026.
Known as Colombia’s Golden Gate, Barranquilla is a vibrant port city that pulses with music, dance, and sunshine year-round. The IRONMAN 70.3 Barranquilla event will blend the strength and energy of IRONMAN 70.3 athletes with the warm, cultural, and festive spirit of Barranquilla, reaffirming the city as an international sports tourism destination and strengthening its capacity to host major events. General registration for the new event will open on December 10, 2025, at www.ironman.com/races/im703-barranquilla.

About the Course
The race will kick off on the popular beaches of Puerto Mocho, where athletes will begin with a 1.9km (1.2-mile) swim, followed by a 90km (56-mile) bike course along the Circunvalar de la Prosperidad, and ending at the Gran Malecón del Río. There, athlete will complete the 21km (13.1-mile) run along the boardwalk, a route that highlights some of the city’s most iconic landmarks such as the Shakira statue, the Sofía Vergara sculpture, the Plaza de los Marinos, and the Shark Fin monument. Athletes will also enjoy the city’s newest attraction, Luna del Río—a 65-meter Ferris wheel that stands as a modern icon in Barranquilla’s skyline.

The IRONMAN 70.3 Barranquilla triathlon will offer qualifying slots to the 2026 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship triathlon taking place in Nice, France on September 12 and 13, 2026.
