Nelson Mandela Bay—named after the freedom fighter and world icon of peace — hosts Africa's most renowned triathlon. An IRONMAN Championship race that pulses with South African spirit, experience the breathtaking courses and feverish support at this postcard-perfect beachside destination.

The city of Port Elizabeth is South Africa’s second oldest city, and is situated on Nelson Mandela Bay. Athletes and spectators who travel here get the unique opportunity to race in one of the most wildly beautiful and historically significant areas of the world. The IRONMAN African Championship has been a favourite on the IRONMAN race circuit for over a decade.

The 2024 ISUZU IRONMAN African Championship offers Men's and Women's Age Group Qualifying slots to the 2024 VinFast IRONMAN World Championship in Nice, France on September 22, 2024 (women), and Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i on October 26, 2024 (men).

Professionals compete for $150,000 prize purse plus 4MPRO/4WPRO WC slots.

Today over 2,600 athletes, including over 80 pros raced in the sunny southern region of France, Aix-en-Provence. As the race meandered through scenic lakes, vineyards and historic old towns, athletes flew through the streets. The victory was taken by Kristian Blummenfelt (NOR) and Marjolaine Pierré (FRA). Marjolaine Pierré took the tape in a time of 4:11:22, with Lizzie Rayner and Lena Meißner completing the podium. more
