Sam Long, Paula Findley Victorious at 70.3 Indian Wells California

Southern California’s Coachella Valley played host to approximately 1,700 athletes for the 2022 Trainual IRONMAN 70.3 Indian Wells-La Quinta triathlon on Sunday, Dec. 4 The event saw athletes take on a 70.3-mile journey through swim, bike, and run through the Cities of La Quinta and Indian Wells culminating in an exciting finish at the iconic Indian Wells Tennis Garden.
 
Sunday’s Trainual IRONMAN 70.3 Indian Wells-La Quinta triathlon hosted some of triathlon’s top professionals with Boulder, Colorado’s Sam Long earning the overall victory and taking the win in the men’s professional race with a time of 3:34:34. In the women’s professional race, Canada’s Paula Findlay sprinted away from the field to earn the win and repeat her 2021 victory, finishing with a time of 4:06:10. The 2022 Trainual IRONMAN 70.3 Indian Wells-La Quinta also featured live event coverage on Outside TV, the final of 11 IRONMAN 70.3 triathlon events from across the globe to broadcast exclusively on the platform this year.

Approximately 1,700 athletes from 31 countries and 48 U.S. states embarked on their 70.3-mile journey beginning with a 1.2-mile swim followed by a 56-mile bike and capped off their race with a 13.1-mile run. The swim took place in the clear waters of Lake Cahuilla, providing an ideal experience for athletes of all levels. The one-loop bike course offered a flat and fast experience across county roads, the Thermal Raceway, the City of La Quinta and the iconic Indian Wells Tennis Gardens. The day ended with a beautiful run through the Indian Wells Golf Resort and finish line at the iconic Tennis Gardens. Serving as the North American TriClub Championship – Southwest, the 2022 Trainual IRONMAN 70.3 Indian Wells-La Quinta triathlon offered exclusive benefits to TriClub members competing today. PATAGONMAN is a grueling triathlon that takes place in one of the most breathtaking natural settings in the world. Starting in the Aysen Fjord, athletes must swim 3.8 kilometers, cycle 180 kilometers along the famous Carretera Austral, and then run 42.2 kilometers through canyons, next to lakes and waterfalls to General Carrera Lake.
