Challenge Roth dreams to come true in September

Tuesday 16 February 2021

TEAM CHALLENGE has announced the postponement of the world-famous DATEV CHALLENGE ROTH by two months – from 4 July to 5 September 2021. By making this move, the organisers of the world’s largest long distance triathlon hope to significantly increase their chances of being able to stand by their motto “Dreams cannot be cancelled”, providing hope to athletes from all over the world by delivering the legendary Roth race in late summer.

Due to the still dynamic COVID situation and the extensive preparations necessary to deliver DATEV CHALLENGE ROTH, the Roth team believes the rescheduling is in the best interests of everyone, but most of all of the athletes, volunteers and local community.

Organizer Felix Walchshöfer said, “Many of our participants registered for 4 July are currently well behind in their training, especially when it comes to swimming. In addition, there still considerable travel restrictions in many countries around the world. It is important to us to offer our athletes a safe, high-quality and – in the sense of equal opportunities – fair competition. Due to the ever more extensive vaccinations in large parts of the world and the possible reduction in COVID cases, which also occurred in the summer months last year, holding the race seems more feasible to us in September than in July. ”

Free re-registration or reimbursement of entry fees for athletes
TEAM CHALLENGE is now looking forward to delivering the world-famous DATEV CHALLENGE ROTH in the triathlon mecca Roth on 5 September after a year’s break. As there is no guarantee it can take place, fair consideration been given for all registered athletes. Athletes can transfer their registration from 4 July to 5 September or, alternatively, move it to next year’s race, which will take place on 3 July 2022, all free of charge. Cancellation is also possible, in which the athletes receive a refund of their entry fee less a processing fee.

Together with the German Triathlon Union (DTU), TEAM CHALLENGE is currently working on hygiene standards, to fulfill the dreams of all athletes, fans and volunteers. The agency APA Brands Solution, which is also commissioned by the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB), will draw up guidelines around these hygiene standards for sports events and sports associations in Germany. The German TÜV will certify these standards once completed.
