12 Male Age Group Athletes Take Titles at the 2025 IRONMAN World Championships

The best male long-distance triathletes in the world from 12 age groups claimed their respective titles at the 2025 IRONMAN® World Championship triathlon in Nice, France on Sunday, September 14. Nearly 2,500 registered athletes from 86 countries, regions and territories swam 2.4 miles, biked 112 miles, and ran 26.2 miles, in triathlon’s pinnacle event of triathlon. The overall Age-Group World Champion crown went to France’s Quentin Amarat racing in the M25-29 category and finishing in a blistering time of 8:41:20. Germany had the most Age-Group World Champions with three, earning titles in the M35-29, M45-49, and M70-74. The youngest Age Group World Champion was Danyil Odynets from Ukraine competing in the M18-24 and posting a 9:09:42 finish time. On the other end of the spectrum was Gian Marco Tironi from Italy who was the oldest Age Group World Champion from the M75-79 category finishing in a an incredible 13:35:24.

The 2025 IRONMAN World Championship in Nice, France kicked off with the 3.8km (2.4-mile) ROKA Swim Course in the blue Mediterranean waters of Baie des Anges. Athletes then embarked on the scenic and challenging 180.2km (112-mile) ZOOT Bike Course, which followed through the hinterland of Nice via the beautiful hillside villages.  Along with stunning coastline and charming villages, the course also featured challenging climbs and technical descents. The four-loop 42.2km (26.2-mile) HOKA Run Course spanned end-to-end of the iconic Promenade des Anglais, passing alongside the famous beach clubs, the Chaises Bleues (blue chairs), and the monumental Negresco Hotel, all with the Mediterranean Sea as a backdrop. With each loop, competitors experienced the crowd's energy as they tackled the flat, fast run course and pushed their limits, culminating in a world-class finish line experience on Nice's Promenade des Anglais.?

Queensland’s Ellie Salthouse (AUS) and Tasmania’s Jake Birtwhistle (AUS) have impressed on their way to victory at the 2025 IRONMAN 70.3 Sunshine Coast, with both athletes breaking the tape comfortably clear of second place on the spectator-lined finish in Mooloolaba. Salthouse completed the 1.9km swim, 90km bike, and 21.1km run in 4:05:10 – more than five minutes clear of Sunshine Coast-based Dutch athlete Lotte Wilms.
