At 7:30 local time, the Challenge Bahrain starts and a tough fight with a world-class field and hard conditions began. More than 1000 participants were fighting for a record prize money of 500,000 US dollars. With a sensational live stream the event was followed by thousands of triathlon fans worldwide. The middle distance race in Bahrain was started in the Bahrain Bay next to the landmark the World Trade Center. The bike course went along of the stunning island of Muharraq Iceland, through the capital Manama and alongside of the desert. The finish line was going through the world famous Formula 1 circuit.
During the 1.9 km swim Andreas could settle in good position. In 22:45 minutes hewas 20th out of water. On the bike he’s setting up the turbo and persuade with anincomprehensible bike split time of 1:57:21 min and an unofficial world record for thefastest bike split at this distance. He could take the lead and determine the race. With a total time of 3:38:23, the German was able to secure the outstanding and for manysurprising 2nd place at this world class pro field race.
"From start to finish everything was fine, just a wonderful day and an amazingexperience here in Bahrain," said Andreas Dreitz at the finish line.

Andreas Dreitz was born on 31.12.1988 in Lichtenfels. He lives and studies inBayreuth and is team member of the Pro Team Erdinger. He currently holds theunofficial world record bike split on the middle distance with 1:57:21. This makes himthe fastest athlete on the 90km bike course.
Since 2012, the charismatic young triathlete starts as a professional on the middledistance. Andreas won at the beginning of his career, the Military Championships,and three times in a row the Rothseetriathlon in his homeland. 2014 he triumphed bywinning the Ironman 70.3 Mallorca, as well as at the Challenge Fuerteventura andthe City Triathlon in Heilbronn.
