HAINES CITY -- Making millions of dollars of improvements to Lake Eva Park may prove to be one of the best investments Haines City ever made. And Polk County's investing $250,000 to help with the expenses of the Ironman competition over five years also appears to be paying off. In fact, those investments could result in a $5 million-to-$6 million economic impact in Polk County for each of the next five years -- a total of up to $30 million more

After quite a long break, Timo Bracht – one of the most successful German triathletes – will return to the “triathlon dream factory” in Roth. Over the weekend I competed at the St. Anthony’s Olympic distance triathlon in St. Petersburg, Florida. With not that much high-end speed work in my body I was unsure how I go against a stellar Pro field. I went into the race without much pressure and did what I could. Which on Sunday was good enough to put me in 6th Place. more

Adriet Imambekov can arguably lay claim to being the greatest athlete to be in Marble Falls. Imambekov won the inaugural HITS triathlon in Marble Falls Sunday. Overall, he was 17th in the swimming portion with a time of 1 hour, 44 minutes, 15 seconds, a bike time of 5 hours, 51 minutes, 17 seconds, and a run time of 4 hours, 10 minutes, 24 seconds, for a total of 11 hours, 52 minutes, 33 seconds. more

So last weekend was my first race back in the northern hemisphere after my operation. It was the New Orleans 70.3 and unfortunately due to the bad weather they had to cancel the swim and add a 2mile run at the beginning of the race. This wasn’t ideal but I was happy with where my running form was at to have a good race. more

This Canada Day, Dartmouth will be playing host to one of the most challenging and grueling sporting events out there - Triathlon. Beginning at 7 a.m. on July 1, athletes will swim, bike and run all over Dartmouth in one of Eastern Canada’s toughest athletic challenges. Race director Tim Chesnutt said he is excited for the race and is anticipating hundreds of participants and volunteers along with potentially thousands of spectators. more

Heather Wurtele considers St. George her second home. She trains with her husband Trevor in the town for almost half of the year. She's even the two-time defending champion of the race. That's why it was difficult for Wurtele to grasp the decision of skipping the 2012 edition of the St. George Ironman. "I fought my coach on it quite a bit," she said. "It's heart breaking riding the Ironman course and not being to race on it." more

Rasmus Henning (DAN) has retained his title at today’s Challenge Fuerteventura with a convincing win 3:57:16 win while Britain’s Emma Kate Lidbury took out the women’s title in 4:32:41. Henning was second out of the water behind fellow Dane, Rasmus Petreaus but by the 10km mark on the bike had taken the lead. By now Daniel Halksworth (GBR) had moved up into second and lost just 37 seconds to Henning’s fastest bike split of the day in 2:19:20. more

The inaugural MetaMan Bintan will take place on 15th September 2012 in Bintan Island, Indonesia. Bintan is a tested ground for triathlon and cycling races, host to the iconic Bintan Triathlon and Tour de Bintan. In addition to the Iron distance, we will also host a half-Iron distance for those not ready yet to go all the way. more

Organizers have made a strategic change to the 2012 Beach2Battleship triathlon route. They’ve moved the finish line from the Battleship North Carolina site to downtown Wilmington. The three-sport event will end with runners crossing the finish line near the federal courthouse on Water Street. more

Challenge Kraichgau will feature a high quality field of triathletes at the European Championships on 10 June 2012. After a strong 2011, Andreas Raelert will return to Kraichgau. The defending champion will face two tough competitors on the way to the European Championship title. On the one hand there is the local hero Sebastian Kienle from Karlsruhe. Kienle is aiming to repeat his 2009 victory. more
