Travel Restrictions Brings Opportunity at IRONMAN Western Australia

Friday 03 December 2021

After the disappointment of missing 2020 it is great to be back racing in Busselton, however we are disappointed that our International and most of our East Coast athletes and event organization teams won’t be able to join us this year.

The 2021 edition of IRONMAN Western Australia is the 17th edition of the event, which debuted in 2004. The event will continue to include the half distance IRONMAN 70.3 on the same day.

GWM IRONMAN Western Australia offers a great opportunity for those Athletes looking to qualify for the 2022 IRONMAN World Championships in in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, where there are 45 slots are up for grabs.

After two successful years The ROKA Swim Course will remain in the 2-lap rolling Swim Start format along the Busselton Foreshore, however athletes will need to leave the water, complete a short run on the sand and re- enter the water for their second lap this year.

The VENTUM bike course this year will become a three lap (60km each) course, reducing the number of U-Turns but still maintaining the flat and fast nature that Busselton is famous for. The HOKA run course remains unchanged with four laps of the scenic Busselton foreshore and thanks to our title partner GWM there will be increased course entertainment for you to enjoy as you pass the famous Busselton Jetty.
