IRONMAN and Unlimited Sports announced today that the city of Aracaju, in the state of Sergipe, Brazil will be the newest host location of an IRONMAN®70.3® triathlon. The Itaú BBA IRONMAN 70.3 Aracaju–Sergipe triathlon will make its debut on November 24, 2024. The new event replaces the race in Maceió and joins four other IRONMAN 70.3 events in Brazil including the Itaú BBA IRONMAN 70.3 Florianópolis, Itaú BBA IRONMAN 70.3 Rio de Janeiro, Itaú BBA IRONMAN 70.3 Fortaleza, and Itaú BBA IRONMAN 70.3 São Paulo races. General registration is currently open at www.ironman.com/im703-aracaju.

“We are thrilled to see another great community in Aracaju join the IRONMAN 70.3 circuit in Brazil,” said Joanna Jordan, Vice President - Managing Director of Latin America for The IRONMAN Group. “Brazil has a long history of hosting excellent IRONMAN branded events in incredibly stunning locations. We have no doubt that Aracaju will become a bucket list race for any athlete looking for the quintessential Brazilian race experience.”

"We have high expectations of repeating the success achieved in other locations. Aracaju has incredible beauty and has all of the infrastructure to host an event such as an IRONMAN 70.3 triathlon," highlights Unlimited Sports CEO, Carlos Galvão, responsible for organizing the IRONMAN and IRONMAN 70.3 races in Brazil.

The Itaú BBA IRONMAN 70.3 Aracaju–Sergipe triathlon will feature a 1.9km (1.2-mile) swim, 90.1km (56-mile) bike, and 21.1km (13.1-mile) run. In a first for all of the IRONMAN-branded events in Brazil, the swim course will take place in a river, at the Foz Vaza Barris where the first transition will also be staged. The bike course will consist of three laps on a primarily flat course that finishes at the Orla do Atalaia along the coastline. After exiting transition two, athletes will tackle the run course that traverses the shoreline, allowing spectators to closely cheer on the passing participants before a grand finish line experience.

The capital of the Brazilian state of Sergipe, Aracaju has become the urban, economic, and cultural center of the northeastern part of country. Its beautiful beaches with calm and warm waters offer something for everyone. The city prides itself in encouraging healthy lifestyle options and works to set a national example by considering bike lanes in urban mobility projects. Aracaju also offers one of the best waterfront walkways in the country: the Orla da Atalaia, which offers a superb infrastructure with various leisure options as well as cultural and culinary experiences. In addition, the Passarela do Caranguejo just next door offers several bars and restaurants with live music.
