70.3 Western Sydney Set to Go Whilst Monitoring Air Quality

Friday 22 November 2019

We’ve had a few queries about the possible impact of smoke impacting the air quality at IRONMAN 70.3 Western Sydney. We are monitoring the situation with local authorities regularly, and as always will have the athlete safety as our first priority. At this time the conditions are looking good. We will keep you updated if anything changes … see you on the weekend! :Race Control.

The 1 lap swim course is situated in the man made, sheltered Penrith Lake home to the 2000 Olympic Sydney International Regatta Center (SIRC), perfect for the nervous swimmer. The iconic and purpose built facility is the perfect swim course for both spectators and athletes. Athletes will take in scenic views of the Blue Mountains and roll through the countryside on the two-lap bike course. The run course set at the Nepean River, along The Great River Walk right alongside the Sydney International Regatta Centre before returning runners re-live the best of the 2000 Olympic venue as the rest of the run course encircles the iconic Penrith Lake. Athletes will return to the Festival Village in front of the grandstand to celebrate down the finish chute.
