IRONMAN 70.3 Qujing China will begin with a swim in the Qujing Triathlon Sports Park reservoir. After completing the swim, athletes will transition lakeside then use 320 National road descending east into the city to start 2.25 loops cycling. After that, athletes will go into T2 at the Qujing Sports Culture Park.
The run is a 2 loops around the Zhujiangyuan Avenue. As athletes follow the course they will have a chance to see the beauty of Qujing’s old world architecture in contrast to the sleek modern designs of the sports arenas. At the end of their last loop, athletes will get to celebrate the day's accomplishments at the finish line on the plaza between the brand new soccer and basketball stadiums.
IRONMAN 70.3 Qujing will have 30 qualifying slots for the 2017 IRONMAN World Championship and 50 qualifying slots for the 2018 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship available. Eligible athletes receiving a slot can either accept a slot to the IRONMAN World Championship or a slot to the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship (but not both).
Professionals compete for P-750 points plus $25,000 prize purse.
