Penghu, also known as the Pescadores Islands, are located in the southwest of the Taiwan Strait. Islands are like pearls scattering in the East Sea. Penghu is famous for its gorgeous beaches, glorious temples and the traditional Taiwanese-style homes surrounded by coral walls.
The event will complement the IRONMAN 70.3 Taiwan, which was first established in 2010. With the growing popularity of IRONMAN 70.3 Taiwan and the inaugural IRONMAN Taiwan held in April, 2015, local and international triathletes can now enjoy and race in a new venue.
Renny Ling, the CEO of Taiwan Triathlon Co., Ltd, said he was honored and delighted to bring the IRONMAN series to Penghu, Taiwan. “Taiwanese triathletes have yearned for an IRONMAN race for years. It’s an historic moment for us to launch IRONMAN Taiwan last year. This year, Penghu will impress all the participants with its scenic and natural views. We would like to welcome triathlon-lovers from all around the world and will show you the beauty of this island.”
Athletes will begin with a 3.8km swim. They will then experience flat stretches on the 180km bike leg before a 42.2km run that will take them along the coastline.
