On Sunday at the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in Sunshine Coast, she will be the one after some guidance as she and son, professional triathlete Sam Appleton, both chase their first world titles. It’s hard to work out if Allison, 57 from Port Macquarie in NSW, is more excited about racing at the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship, or racing with her son. more

Catherine Faux and Harry Wiltshire took the first IRONMAN wins of their career at IRONMAN Vichy. For more than six hours it looked a bit like a twin race at IRONMAN Vichy. British Harry Wiltshire and Italy’s Ivan Risti more or less battled the whole day side by side, before decisions were made on a hot day in France. more

Symonds and Annett win Challenge Penticton

2016 Challenge Penticton hosts the 34th year of long distance triathlon. Two Penticton-based athletes have won the 2016 Challenge Penticton title. Jeff Symonds won the men’s race in 5:32:39 with a day-best run split of 1:45. Jen Annett won the women’s race in 6:13:49. “That was unbelievable,” said Jeff. “The guys were crushing it in the swim and bike, but I stuck to my guns and waited for the run – that’s my bread and butter. I had so much support out there cheering me on which helped out a lot. more
