The 42-year old Spaniard Eneko Llanos pulled off an impressive win at the inaugural IRONMAN Vitoria-Gasteiz. Thanks to a brilliant all-day-long perfomance he celebrated the win in 7:55:16. Lllanos was in a good position in the water and hammered fully focused on the bike. Once on the run course, he embarked on a great solo in his hometown. The crowd celebrated Llanos in great style, and the experienced racer nailed a fantastic win.
Heather Jackson delivered in style in the women’s competition. She was a bit behind the Spanish swim leader Judith Corachan, but the US-American took over on the bike and hit the gas especially on the run. The 35-year old was clearly on the way tot he win early, but she maintained a great pace until she crossed the line in 8:52:10.
