Nils Frommhold put on a big smile after crossing the finish line at the IRONMAN 70.3 Astana. The 32-year old German took a great win in 3:46:08 thanks to an extremely solid performance in each discipline. Frommhold was close to the front in the water, strong on the bike and then off and away on the run. Especially on the final kilometers of the bike, he put enough time on the Spaniard Filipe Azevedo to hold the fast runner off his neck.
Radka Kahlefeldt (CZE) fought herself back into the mix in the half marathon. She led the race in the water, before Susie Cheetham (GBR) opened up a big battle on the bike and sailed a bit away. Kahlefeldt nailed a great run to take the win in 4:07:43.
