Impressive international pro field lining up for CHALLENGE RICCIONE

Friday 03 May 2019
CHALLENGE RICCIONE is ready for the race weekend on May 4th and 5th and is looking forward to top performances by a great line up of international professional athletes. “After last years victory here in Riccione I can guarantee that the organisation of the race by this team will be outstanding. I love to race in this place because of its beauty and food but above all because of the friendly atmosphere and its organisational reliability and correctness that, as a professional athlete, I very much appreciate. This year I will have to fight to win even harder because the start list is impressive. I will give everything I got!”, says Giulio Molinari, winner of last years edition.

CHALLENGE RICCIONE has a long-standing partnership with Giulio Molinari, reigning European half distance champion. The GS Carabinieri athlete who defeated Austrian Thomas Steger (2nd place) and German Frederic Funk (3rd place), confirmed he will be once again at the start line in Riccione.

Among the men there will be:
Frederic Funk, a 21-year old German triathlete and a rising star on the international triathlon scene. He has participated in various CHALLENGE FAMILY  races and this year will come back to CHALLENGE RICCIONE with only one goal: to win!

Colin Norris, a 32-year old English triathlete. After having achieved impressive results as a runner he specialized in half distance racing. Why is he in Riccione? To test himself with a new challenge.

Thomas Steger, a 27-year old triathlete from Austria, who made a name internationally with excellent results in middle and long distance races. He finished 2nd in CHALLENGE RIMINI 2017 and CHALLENGE RICCIONE 2018. This year he has only one goal: victory.

Among the women there will be:
Bianca Steurer, a 32-year old triathlete from Austria, specialized in half and long distance races. Champions never stop being hungry and that is why also this year she will race for the title of CHALLENGE RICCIONE.

Nina Derron, a 26-year old Swiss triathlete who forms a formidable team with her sisters Michelle and Julie. However, while her sister focuses on Olympic distance races, Nina focuses on long distance races. She will race in CHALLENGE RICCIONE to prove herself once again.

Marta Bernardi, a strong athlete who is on the rise nationally and internationally and has achieved a series of incredible results in recent years. She will be at CHALLENGE RICCIONE to outdo herself once again.

About the event:
The technical and spectacular race course makes this half distance race the perfect race for those who love a competitive challenge. Its highly experienced staff is organising outstanding sports events in the Italian region of Emilia-Romagna for many years. Once again, the organisation is gearing up for the event in May to be able to offer all athletes a unique and memorable experience.
