Taking place at the city center of Jönköping, this event joins four other IRONMAN 70.3 events in Scandinavia. The crystal-clear lake Vättern (Östra Vätterbranterna) provides a stunning center point, and athletes will be treated to enchanting forests and expansive views over the Swedish countryside.
Participants can look forward to a spectator friendly 1.9-kilometer swim course in the heart of Jönköping. The 90-kilometer bike course leads through the countryside, with stunning views of Lake Vättern along the rolling course. The 21.1-kilometer run course goes through central parts of Jönköping and along sandy beaches of Vättern, with the finish line in the center of the city.
Jönköping is Sweden’s tenth largest municipality and beautifully situated in southern Sweden on the shores of lake Vättern. Jönköping offers a vibrant city pulse, beach life, and nature on its doorstep. The city center of Jönköping is known for its quaint alleys and canals, opening the city up to the three lakes. The unique landscape and natural settings east of Lake Vättern were designated as a biosphere reserve area by UNESCO in 2012.
IRONMAN 70.3 Jönköping 2018 offers 50 qualifying slots for the 2018 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in Nice, France.
Professionals compete for P-500 points plus $15,000 prize purse.
