IRONMAN 70.3 Costa Rica attracts athletes from all over the world, due to its beautiful scenery. The race takes place in Costa Rica, Guanacaste and also in one of its most popular and traditional beaches, Playas del Coco. Guanacaste is known for its mountains, extensive plains, chain of volcanoes, beautiful beaches with the best sunsets and National Parks. It is the fifth province of Costa Rica and a great place to host an IRONMAN 70.3.
Participants will swim 1.2 miles (1.9 km), in the protected waters of Playas del Coco. The spectators will have a great view of the entire Swim Course alongside Playa de Coco.
Athletes will endure a 56 mile (90 km) bike ride. The bike course will go from the soccer courts to Ave Central which is the road that joins Playas del Coco with the towns of San Blas and Sardinal de Carrillo. Along the course, the athletes will enjoy views of many beautiful beaches.
The 2.5 loop run course will take athletes on a 13.1 mile (21km) journey
alongside the beach next to the marina "Amor de Temorada". Participants will make their way through Playas del Coco, with breathtaking views alongside the ocean. Athletes will be able to observe Costa Rica's nature and the variety of exotic animals that inhibit this country.
The 2018 IRONMAN 70.3 Costa Rica offers 30 qualifying slots for the 2018 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in Nelson Mandela Bay, South Africa.
Professionals compete for P-500 points plus $15,000 prize purse.
