Jan Raphael and Horst Reichel represented the POWER HORSE Triathlon Team at the Ironman 70.3 Rügen to finish off the end of European competition season with a strong field athletes. Team-mate George Potrebitsch takes on Challenge Amsterdam-Almere Challenge and with it the European Championship title over the long distance.
After his win at Ironman Sweden Horst Reichel travels to Rugen with a big dose of tailwind to and wants "as long as possible to fight at the top and make for the other athletes it as difficult as Possible.” For Reichel it's all about going to see if he is already back in good form or not. "Nearly four weeks after the Ironman Sweden I guess my form is at about 90 percent. I am now well back into training and want to see where I stand for early October with a view to Ironman Barcelona. "For Jan Raphael the Ironman 70.3 is a next location and probably last event this year on European soil. From here he goes state side and proceeds on a US-tour, where he will prepare for a late Ironman.
Attack is the best defense
The Challenge Amsterdam-Almere is for Georg Potrebitsch a good place and so the Gladbecker looks full of anticipation about the legendary long distance event on Saturday. This years race also doubles as the 2014 European Triathlon Union long course championship and is therefore strong motivation for Potrebitsch. “The competition is certainly again better than in recent years and it is already a tough race," Potrebitsch also has an unusual idea of perfect weather conditions for a competition: "on Saturday, I hope a lot of wind and cold temperatures."
