“With the addition of a third off-road triathlon race, and 20 World qualifying spots for all of Ontario, the opportunity to create a mini points series has arrived,” said Race Director James Kowalewski. “It is so important that there is as much of an equal opportunity as possible across all the age groups and between both genders. In order to continue our mandate, which is to help support the growth of off-road triathlon and provide opportunities to as many individuals as possible, we have created a mini points series between the two southern Ontario XTERRA races to reward racing consistency.”
Having a points series and multiple races within the province helps provide a reason to dedicate training to the off-road discipline, and “add in the opportunity to qualify for a destination race, and you’ve got something to train for,” explained Kowalewski.
Since XTERRA Sleeping Giant is geographically separated from the other two Ontario races, 6 direct entry spots have been awarded to
XTERRA Sleeping Giant will award six of the qualifying spots, to the top 3 male and top 3 female overall finishers.
