The 2015 IRONMAN Los Cabos triathlon will move from March to October 25 in 2015 – providing athletes with a more suitable date in the fall. In addition, for the first time, Los Cabos will also offer the opportunity to race an IRONMAN 70.3 triathlon as well on the same date as the IRONMAN race.
The addition of the IRONMAN 70.3 race comes after Los Cabos successfully hosted an IRONMAN race for the past two years, offering a challenging but spectacular course. Los Cabos, Mexico is located at the tip of the Baja California Peninsula and is one of the top tourist destinations in North America. The IRONMAN 70.3 course will consist of a one-lap swim on the beautiful and tranquil, clear waters of the exclusive Palmilla Bay, a one-loop cycle course along the Transpeninsular Highway linking Cabos San Lucas, San Jose del Cabo and the toll road to the airport, finishing with a two-lap run course on the downtown streets of San Jose.
This new race on next year’s calendar will take place on Sunday October 25, 2015. IRONMAN 70.3 Los Cabos will have 30 qualifying age group slots for the 2016 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia while professional athletes will be competing for a total prize purse of $50,000 USD.
The 2015 IRONMAN Los Cabos will have 40 qualifying slots to the 2016 IRONMAN World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.
